Mobile Communication System to Be Installed in Three of Vattenfall Europe Generations Base Load Stations

Mobile alarm and communication systems shall be installed in three of Vattenfall Europe Generations base load stations by the end of 2008. The power producer ordered the installation of the systems on the power plant sites in Jänschwalde, Boxberg, and Lippendorf. Vattenfall Europe Netcom will also be in charge of the systems´ operations and maintenance.

“It is one of our biggest investment projects”, says Gunnar Wilhelm, managing director of Vattenfall Europe Netcom. The first of the three mobile alarm and communication systems is expected to be put into operation in Jänschwalde by autumn 2007. Afterwards, systems will be installed at the power sites in Boxberg and Lippendorf. Via portable handsets, phone calls can be made and received all over the premises equipped with mobile alarm and communication systems. They also have a vital function in case of emergency: If the user becomes motionless, the motion sensor activates and sends an emergency message and the handset´s exact location to the surveillance computer at the central control room.
